In the 2023 season, Evero led a Panthers defensive unit that ranked No. 4 in yards allowed. However, the Panthers’ offense struggled, finishing No. 31 in scoring and No. 32 in total yards.

Evero has a prior history with the Rams, serving as the safeties coach from 2017 to 2021. He was later promoted to secondary coach and defensive passing game coordinator in his final season with the team.

Notably, Evero has also been interviewed by the Seahawks and Panthers for their head coaching positions.

Atlanta’s search process has included or scheduled second interviews with various candidates, including Texans offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik, Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn, Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh, Rams defensive coordinator Raheem Morris, Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson, and former Patriots head coach Bill Belichick.
