The response from Mahomes to his ankle injury reveals his resilience

When Mahomes got tackled by Eagles linebacker T.J. Edwards late in the second quarter, he painfully writhed around on the ground, leaving Chiefs fans all over frantic with worry. Backup quarterback Chad Henne even started to warm up. Mahomes limped off to the sidelines, however, he soon arose and began to march up and down the sideline in an attempt to demonstrate he was not hurt. It worked, ultimately leading to the Chiefs’ dramatic, historic, and exciting second Super Bowl victory in four years.

In the middle of the third quarter, Dallas Goedert made a stunning catch along the sideline which was first considered a reception. As the play was being analyzed, AJ Brown from the Eagles and L’Jarius Sneed from the Chiefs both took their helmets off while they shouted insults at each other. Brown was pointing to his chest while Sneed moved closer to the star receiver, prompting other Chiefs players to come in and stop things from getting out of hand. The Eagles coaches then stepped in and spoke to Sneed and the Chiefs, possibly because Sneed had been shaken by Brown’s earlier performance of 78 yards and a touchdown. In the end, however, Sneed had the last laugh.

No one was sure if Nick Bolton had made an unlikely second touchdown

When L’Jarius Sneed tackled Miles Sanders and the ball was then recovered and run back for a touchdown by Nick Bolton, the crowd’s reaction was surprisingly muted. As the Chiefs began their celebration, fans started to speculate what had happened. Finally, when the referees declared the play was overturned, cheers of relief and surprise were heard from both Eagles and Chiefs fans alike, though many were still uncertain as to what transpired. It was an odd and confusing scene, with both sides expressing celebration and discontent in equal measure.

The atmosphere of the Super Bowl has a distinct soccer-like vibe due to the split of the spectators into opposing sides, similar to a soccer game

The arrangement of Super Bowl LVII had a distinct soccer-style feel to it, as the stands of State Farm Stadium, were divided between supporters of the Chiefs and Eagles. The east side was dominated by Kansas City’s loyalists, with loud cheers for Patrick Mahomes and his teammates’ impressive plays. Conversely, the west side of the stadium was awash in Philadelphia green, as the Eagles fans showed their enthusiasm for their team. Undoubtedly, the traditional mixing of fans from either team was still present, yet the distinct split of colors was unmistakable.

Just minutes before game time in Arizona, a chaotic scene took place in the stadium concourse, where security had blocked the area and prohibited movement in both directions. Fans began to voice their discontent, chanting “Let us through!” as they jeered and booed attendants and officials. With tensions high, both Chiefs and Eagles supporters began to butt heads as the standstill continued for around 35 minutes.

Eventually, the situation was cleared and officials added dividers to the concourse to ensure traffic would run smoothly. People around were apprehensive about the possible consequences of the altercation, as the only way to move between sections was blocked for the first quarter. It will be interesting to see how the NFL addresses this issue in the future.
